With so much going on, we were unable to say a proper farewell to friends here in Connecticut before heading south to start our East Coast Greenway Expedition. We had originally planned to have a little gathering at our place, but we ran out of time. We had quite a few travel plans for the first months of the year, and then we were housebound with COVID for a couple of weeks. Our travels were super fun.

We spent a weekend in Vermont celebrating Isaac's 15th birthday. We went rock climbing, snowmobiling, and skiing. We also hung out at the Inn, ate Ben and Jerry's ice cream, and played pool. It was a super busy yet chill trip. From Vermont, we flew to The Dominican Republic via Indiana (long story). which gave us the opportunity to have dinner with Shan's parents and also visit Kelzey for the evening.
We snagged tickets to Love Burn, which was held over Valentine's Day weekend, so three weeks after our Dominican Republic trip we went to Miami where we were able to visit with Chicago friends and enjoy the warm weather. But that wasn't our last trip.

At the end of March, we spent a long weekend in Boulder, CO where we visited some friends, but more importantly, we were able to spend time with Cooper (my 19-year-old son). He worked at Vail over the winter and hadn't visited Boulder yet, so we were happy to meet him there and see some sights. We had a great time hiking Mt. Sanitas and the Red Rocks Trail. It was wonderful to hang out with Cooper. We loved our visit, but it was hard to say goodbye. :(

In addition to our travels, we were able to work on constructing a climbing wall in the garage so Isaac can practice his climbing skills. He has been bouldering at a gym 45 miles away and expressed interest in an at-home option. Shan was on top of things and really made it happen before we left for our expedition. Lucky little Isaac!
While the at-home climbing options are pretty cool, I really, really, really enjoy taking him to the climbing gym. He's so comfortable there; I love seeing him in his element. He also is great at motivating me to get on the wall and try climbs that I think look "too hard" for me to do. "You got this, mom, just grab the climbs and go. It's as easy as that." Well ok, little man, if you say so!
Words of wisdom from one of the smartest kids I know.
